veggieblog.jpgThe weather was gorgeous this past weekend, so we decided to head down to SDC for our first visit during Kids Fest.  One of the best parts of our trip was seeing the new VeggieTales show, The Invention of Silliness.

From the moment you enter Riverfront Playhouse you know something exciting is going on, as the entire theater is decked out with gears and gadgets, and there is a huge and mysterious object covered by a patched sheet on the stage.  While waiting for the show to start, we noticed that occasionally there would be a commotion on stage as Pa Grape's assistants would be turning gears and sweeping floors.

The show began with the unveiling of the mysterious contraption, which was full of horns and whistles - too much to adequately describe!  This machine was designed by Pa Grape himself, and intended to produce the best and most fabulous silly song ever!  Well, there were a few bumps in the round on the way to invention, but it meant a whole lot of fun for the audience.  The show was full of singing and dancing and, of course, loads of silliness!

My daughter was singing along and clapping to the music. It was so much fun to see her reaction to the show!  And, the best part was the uplifting message and family values that were presented throughout the show - with a healthy helping of fun!  Nearly everyone in the audience was singing and clapping as Bob & Larry led us in "I'll Fly Away."

Speaking of Bob & Larry, after the show they have a special meet & greet with the audience outside of the theatre.  My daughter was a little shy, but we loved the picture of her and Mommy with her favorite characters!

Be sure to check out the show schedule prior to your visit, and don't miss your chance to see VeggieTales newest production at Silver Dollar City!
