It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!
Posted by Sarah in Moms Blog
I just love seeing all of the sparkling lights decorating the trees and buildings, the shows that can't help but get you into the spirit of the season, and of course, the delicious hot chocolate!
This year Silver Dollar City is again pulling out all of the stops to celebrate this special time of year. Here are just a few fun facts about An Old Time Christmas at Silver Dollar City:
- Silver Dollar City has over 4 million lights-that's 350 miles of lights
- There are over 1,000 decorated trees throughout the park.
- The Holiday Light Parade has 8 lighted, musical floats decorated with 100,000 lights
- Silver Dollar City will decorate with 350 wreaths and use over 5 miles of ribbon.
- Approximately 58,000 cups of hot chocolate will be served during the festival
The festival theme this year will be "The Stories of Christmas" featuring over 35 storyboards placed throughout the park. Some of the stories included are "The Story of the Christmas Tree," "The Story of the Song, "Carol of the Bell"," The Story of the Greatest Story Ever Told," just to mention a few.
You won't want to miss the great line-up of shows during the festival this year either, including the return of favorites such as Christmas on Main Street, A Dickens' Christmas Carol and the Gifts of Christmas Holiday Light Parade. Plus, there is an all-new show this year based on the tales of our favorite lovable snowman - Frosty! I hear it is a must-see for the kids.
Speaking of the kids, you know yours are going to want to visit Santa this year and let him know all of their wishes for Christmas morning. Instead of visiting the jolly old elf at a crowded shopping center, why not take your kids to have lunch with him? On weekends in November and December Silver Dollar City is offering guests the opportunity to have Lunch with Santa in the Reunion Hall.
From pictures with Santa to sing-along songs with Santa's friends and special gifts, Lunch with Santa is sure to be a magical time for your children! Mrs. Claus is serving up her famous fried chicken, Santa's Pasghetti, noodles and sauce, Tinker's smashed potatoes & gravy, Rudolph's dirt & worms and more. The meal and entertainment is $18.99 for adults, $14.99 for kids age 4-11. Simply call 800-475-9370 to make your reservation.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and hope to see you at the City!

Christmas time down at sdc is a great time. We went a few years back and it was amazing. The lights are as good as anything I have ever seen. The shows are great.I really loved the parade. All the lights, anyone would love. The kids really love it, but it does get pretty cold. As long as you bundle up, anyone would have a great time! |
