inkhole entrance as they make their way from the turnstiles to the Hospitality House.

Well, those of us who've been coming for years and love Marvel Cave want you to know about it. Here's my Top 10 reasons why you should make the time for a 55 minute guided walking tour of Marvel Cave.

10. It's really cool down there! Not only does the temperature stay a comfortable 60 degrees year round, but it's really COOL to see!

9. You get an opportunity to learn more of the history of the Cave and Silver Dollar City.

8. You enter through a sinkhole entrance into the largest room of the Cave, the Cathedral Room. Wow...what a view! I especially love the time of day when the sun shines through the sinkhole.

7. Your kids get to imagine what it must have been like for the first explores visiting the cave with lanterns and leather bottom coveralls...to slide down the rocks!

6. You get to see...bats...if they're hanging around!

5. You'll see amazing cave formations including the Liberty Bell and Blondie's Throne. Plus, you'll learn about how water erosion formed the cave and see how it carved out passageways curvy and steep.

4. You'll see a beautiful underground Waterfall.

3. You'll visit rooms in the cave including the Shoe Room, Cloud Room, and the Mystic Pool Room.

2. You only have to walk 50 stories down on stairs and ramps and 10 stories up...after that you get to hop on the red Cable Train and ride your way up to the top!

1. You'll leave the cave refreshed and ready to hit the City again...plus you can treat yourself to some ice cream at Hannah's Ice Cream Parlor after that trek!!

Also, if your kids are 8 years and older, don't miss the Latern Light Tour at the end of the day. Even if you been in the cave multiple times, it is a whole new experience. Stop by the Cave Information Desk and ask the guides about it.

Looking for other ways to keep cool?  Check out the New Big Squirts (water guns) at Geyser Gulch, or you could purchase personal fans throughout the park!

During Silver Dollar City’s National Kids Fest Marvel Cave is giving a special tour for 45 guests everyday at 2:00 p.m. The tour is tailored to children, and includes information such as: how bats impact environment, salamander facts, and formations in the Cave. Upon completion of the tour kids receive a certificate of participation. In order to be a part of this experience guests must reserve a spot on the tour at the Cave desk.
