Q: Misty asks, "I have a 3 year old, 1 year old, and a 7 month old. We was planning on going to branson our first time the first week of Nov. to see the christmas themes.

I have heard that each theme park had something different for the christmas theme, but I don't know which one to take my kids too. We are not planning on riding any rides, we are just planning on looking at lights basically for the kids. So can anyone tell me where I might could take my kids? I was looking at the old time christmas part that they have, can anyone tell me anything about that?

A: Just a warning, this answer may be a little biased as I am somewhat fanatical about An Old Time Christmas at Silver Dollar City.  I think the folks at SDC really go above and beyond to help you enjoy the holiday season.

First, there are over 4 million lights all over the park which will get your heart aglow during the holiday season.  And, a great selection of fun holiday themed shows that I think you and your kids will enjoy such as Christmas on Main Street featuring the 5-story Special Effects Christmas Tree on Silver Dollar City's Town Square.  The Gifts of Christmas Holiday Light Parade is always a treat and there is even a new show this year called Frosty - all about our favorite lovable snowman!

Some of the rides are also open when weather permits, but you can have a great time even if you don't decide to ride anything.  Though, the sing-a-long Steam Train is a hoot!  (pun intended) I enjoy just seeing the lights, watching some shows and having a nice, warm cup of hot chocolate!

However, An Old Time Christmas is not the only holiday event going on in Branson during November and December.  For more information on the Branson Area Festival of Lights and the Shepherd of the Hills Trail of Lights please visit explorebranson.com.
