Q: Is Marvel Cave Recommended for 2-3 Year Olds?

Q: Gayle asks, " I have always enjoyed the cave when I come to Silver Dollar City. My husband and I are bringing our 2 year old (2 months short of 3), and we would like to share the cave experience with her. What do you recommend?"
A: A Marvel Cave tour is a wonderful experience for both adults and children! While young children are welcome in the cave (infants need to be accompanied by a companion 17 years or older), there are a couple of things you should know to make your tour even more enjoyable. There are wet, dimly lit walking surfaces throughout the cave, so you may wish to carry your little one through part or all of the one-hour walking tour. But be prepared, the tour includes 700 steps and a difficult climb to exit. Plus, there are no restrooms in the cave.
I recently took the cave tour with my 4 year old nephew. While my sister-in-law carried him on her back for most of the tour (she is very physically fit), we all enjoyed it very much.
If anyone else has had experience with youngsters in the cave, please chime in!
