Q: Debbie says, "I've gone to Silver Dollar City since I was 5 years old, now my 10 year old daughter and I get season All City passes every year.  Sometimes we take other girls, we love the City and always have a great time but sometimes leaving the parking lots at the end of the day can put a damper on the memories...

I was staying at our favorite hotel which is in walking distance at Christmas and although it was so close I sat in the parking lot not moving for 2 hours at the end of the night, the girls did fall asleep luckily.  Traffic didn't move until finally some workers came and made the guests start taking turns.  And don't even suggest leaving early LOL!!!!!!"

A: I know how you feel.  After a full day of fun at Silver Dollar City my patience can easily wear thin when it comes to dealing with traffic.  Luckily, the folks at SDC are aware of the traffic issues and have taken some steps to improve it.  Following is some information I received from Silver Dollar City management regarding the project.

"Construction is currently underway to widen Indian Point Road near the Silver Dollar City entrance.  The project allows for 2 lanes of traffic leaving Silver Dollar City and the Village of Indian Point. Entrance into Silver Dollar City will be 2 lanes, with 1 dedicated lane going to the Indian Point Peninsula area resorts and lake access points. The road construction should be completed in late June or early July, depending upon weather constraints. The road realignment made changes in some of our parking lots necessary, but additional parking is being added. While we had to remove some trees, more will be planted elsewhere as our longtime company policy is to plant two trees for every one removed."

It sounds like the road improvements should make entering and exiting the park much easier in the near future.  Check the MomsBlog frequently for future postings on the construction progress.
