Q: What's a good touring plan for a Summer visit?
Posted by Mom411 in Questions
1. What are the least crowded days in late June - early July?
2. What is the best plan (i.e. multiple day mornings, afternoons off, or what)?
3. What is the best Touring Plan (what should we ride/see first)?
4. Do we really need more than one day?
5. Totally unrelated to the above, are we crazy for even thinking about coming Spring Break (March)?
We absolutely despise crowds, and attend Disneyland & DisneyWorld by attending multiple days (early & late), taking afternoons off to nap or lounge at the pool. Is this necessary at Silver Dollar City?
A: I'm glad you are considering bringing your family to Silver Dollar City! I think there is plenty you all will enjoy at the park.
If you plan to visit in late June or early July, I would suggest visiting on a week day instead of a weekend and arriving as early as possible on the days you plan to visit. This time-frame is actually one of the busiest during the park's operating season, but by planning ahead you can avoid some of the crowd issues.
I would suggest visiting the Schedules and Brochures section of Silver Dollar City's website prior to your trip and download a show schedule. You can also visit the Rides and Attractions web pages to decide which rides you think your family would enjoy most. I would suggest WildFire and PowderKeg if your family likes roller coasters, and in the summertime I wouldn't miss a ride on Lost River. You will get wet! SDC's website also has a trip planner feature which will let you save information about the rides, shows and restaurants you would like to visit during your trip.
I think there is plenty to do at the park to keep you busy for 2 days, but you might also consider getting a 2-park ticket and include a visit to White Water in your vacation. Your teens would probably enjoy a day in the sun playing on waterslides! And, the 2 park hopper will let you visit the park of your choice (Silver Dollar City or White Water) for multiple days during your trip.
I don't think you're crazy for wanting to come during Spring Break. I think it is a fun time to visit Branson, and especially Silver Dollar City. The weather can be a little unpredictable, but the rides are just as fun!
Hope this helps in planning your trip!

You should do the after 3pm get the next day free. its worth it! With kids you want a little more time to shop. Make sure you look to see what shows you want to see. Make sure you schedule around them. I usually start on one side of the park and go to the other! |
