I have to say that life with a toddler at home is definitely demanding. And... it probably doesn't help that I am the type of Mom who wants to do it all, perfectly and in 3 inch heels. Like a lot of you out there.

I occasionally wonder if I haven't bitten off a little more than I can chew. I work full-time outside of the home, and I also tend to cram my calendar with extracurricular activities like volunteering at my church, planning the annual family reunion [...]

Q: Bobbie asks, "I was curious if anyone knew what attraction will be replacing the Tom Sawyer's Landing area, currently being taken down?

I would like to see a giant Ferris Wheel ride! I think that would be a great attraction, which goes along with the old-fashion theme of SDC."

What Crafts Do You Enjoy?

Have you ever taken the time to visit with the many craftsmen at the City? I enjoy seeing the art and skill of craftsmanship, especially during the National Harvest Festival and with over 100 visiting craftsmen on park, there are many tales and stories of how they started doing their particular craft.

Looking over the list of visiting craftsmen and women on the website, there are some familiar names I recognize but more that I don't. [...]

Q: Sarah asks, "My family is going to take a quick weekend getaway to Branson in early October. My children are 2 and 4. Which park would you recommend for them (we'll only have time for one) during the Fall Festivals?

They've never been to an amusement park before, so I'm not sure what their fear levels will be. I'd like to bring them to a park that not only has kid-friendly rides (which both appear to), but also have really fun and interactive events that would hold their attention [...]

One of my favorite seasons...okay, I'll admit I like them all! But, there's something really special about the Fall. Maybe it's all the beautiful colors displayed throughout the Ozarks. Or, perhaps the crisp cool air on a beautiful sunny day. Maybe because it represents the harvest time and all that we have to be thankful for in this great country.

As the cooler temperatures start moving in and school gets back into swing I always get the itch to start baking again. I love the smell of homemade goodness baking in my oven on a Sunday afternoon.

Q: Carmen asks, "We have booked a trip to Branson Oct. 24-28. In planning our SDC part, I just came across the calendar stating you are closed after the 25th! So, we will definitely come the evening of the 24th and all day the 25th. Will this be a normal SDC experience or will things (shows or rides) be closed or winding down because you are closing for that week and the Harvest festival is ending?

Q: Laura asks, "I was checking Buckshot Annie's on the SDC Food Guide and the picture of the Family Feud Succotash looked different than I remember it, like it had the frozen pre-breaded okra and squash. Has SDC changed their recipe?

The last time we went during November, it was Veterans Day and it was packed! We would like a few days with smaller crowds so we can enjoy things a little more and have an easier time getting in to the Christmas shows and such."
