Take a Journey during World-Fest at Silver Dollar City

I don't know about you, but it's probably going to be a while before my family and I get to travel to places like Ireland, China or Trinidad, if ever.  Luckily, Silver Dollar City brings the best of the best from those countries and more right to my backyard.

This year the festival mix looks to be full of exciting shows and activities to enjoy.  I am really looking forward to the return of Zunyi Chinese Acrobats.  I saw the show last year, and it was truly incredible.  New this year, the City celebrates Ireland like never before with an all-new stage show called Ireland's Feet of Fire including champion step dancers and symbolic fire dancing.  Sounds impressive!  If you enjoy unique crafts and gifts you won't want to miss the new Irish Market Place featuring fifteen talented artisans creating their unique crafts.

My all-time favorite World-Fest performers have to be the Steel Drums of Trinidad.  Their show is always lively as they demonstrate their talent in playing the unique instrument native to the country of Trinidad.   Other countries showcasing their distinctive talents during the festival this year include the Watoto Children's Choir from Uganda and the Czech Republic's Children's Folk Troupe, Noticky.  There's so much to enjoy during World-Fest.  I wouldn't miss it!

What are some of your all-time favorite World-Fest performers or shows?

I've always loved anything to do with Irish step dancing, so I'm really looking forward to the Feet of Fire Irish Celebration this year! But, I would have to say I love the diversity that World-Fest brings to the Ozarks and always enjoy all of the groups. To see all the costumes and meet performers from around the world is a real treat...it's like the world has been brought to our doorstep and we get to see their heritage in song and dance! I've secretly always been a closet clogger and have always wanted to learn Irish Step Dancing. Please don't laugh if you see me steppin' up the streets of the City whistling an Irish tune...everyone's got to have a dream, right?

World Fest is my absolute favorite festival at SDC. We always make plans to take the family at least once during World Fest and we just spent the last weekend enjoying the sights, sounds, and foods from around the world.

My priority was to see both Feet of Fire and Beggar's Row which I accomplished. Although I enjoyed both shows very much, Beggar's Row was tops for me hands down. I loved the show, the music, and the dynamic personalities of the group, especially Bob Ferguson. I hope that they will return again next year and for years to come!

We enjoyed eating at the World Food Barn. We all chose something different - husband and one daughter enjoyed kolaches, I had bockwurst (heavenly and hard to find but a food from my own childhood!), another child had fish and chips, and another enjoyed the spaghetti and meatballs. We shared a French eclair too - wonderful!
