What's Your Fall Family Tradition?
Posted by Noel in Silver Dollar City, Moms Blog
I love family traditions and really enjoy hearing what others do to celebrate each season or holiday. Every October we love to visit a pumpkin patch and go through hay mazes and take a wagon ride to pick out the best pumpkin from the patch.
When I was growing up, we didn't have the fun of a pumpkin patch, but my family still created memories that will last a lifetime on my grandparents farm down in Southwest Barry County. We'd pick up black walnuts and were sure we'd earn a bunch of money when we took them to be hulled. We'd taste persimmons after the first frost. We'd rake leaves into big piles only to jump in them to our hearts content. And after a day full of Fall fun, my grandma would make us pancakes for supper in the shape of the animal of our choice! It may not sound like much to you, but it was heaven to me!
Although their farm is long gone, I'm always in search of making Fall memories with our son that he'll remember when he's grown and has children of his own. Whether it's visiting the local pumpkin patch, making homemade pumpkin cookies, Harvest Parties at church, or finding the most beautifully colored leaves as they fall to the ground...I hope you create memories with your family as you celebrate Fall!
What are some of your family traditions? I'd love to hear them!
Happy Fall Y'all!
