Check Out The 50th Anniversary Mini-Site!

To celebrate their 50th, Silver Dollar City is going all out! You'll find all the details at http://www.50.silverdollarcity.com/.

This mini-site is truly interactive as visitors upload personal stories, photos, and videos. There's also a Sweepstakes section where you register to win over $50,000 in prizes. If you are a 2010 season pass holder, you're automatically entered into the Sweepstakes. If you haven't purchased a 2010 season pass, you really want to do it before March 5 (because that's the deadline for receiving extra benefits, like Bring-a-Friend tickets).

The biggest surprise I discovered was found in the site's "Music Downloads" section www.50.silverdollarcity.com/contests-extras/music.aspx

Since the early 1980's, I've been a fan of The Flooded Mine ride music ("... and you might get out if the mine don't flood...") They put this ditty online as an MP3 file and I downloaded it and created a ringtone.  (It's a real attention-grabber when someone calls you while standing in the grocery checkout line.)

I encourage everyone to visit the 50th mini-site to share your favorite City memories, or just to enjoy reading others' stories. Surfing through the memories of so many Silver Dollar City fans is a fascinating journey through time. The shared family photos and heart-warming stories serve to remind us that we are truly a family-- a community of people that find common interest and values in a special place, a park many of us fondly call "the City."
