Cool fun at KidsFest

It's definitely summer in the Ozarks - humid and hot! Fortunately, you can spend the day enjoying SDC and find plenty of ways to stay cool. The kids and I decided to head over and check out KidsFest but we were prepared to have some cool fun!

Hooray! The new season has finally begun and our family was so excited to head out to the city this past weekend for Family Spring Break Days. It feels like spring is here now and summer is right around the corner.

Some sure signs of spring are finally showing up here in the Ozarks - the tiniest little tulip leaves pushing their way through the ground in my garden; I actually left the house this weekend without a heavy winter coat; and Silver Dollar City opens for Family Spring Break Days in just 10 days!

As my family was taking a walk this weekend enjoying the sunshine, I actually mentioned to my husband, "This would be a perfect day for a trip to SDC." Well, our wait is almost over [...]

February is just about gone and in our family we get excited when March arrives. This happens for a number of reasons...March means Spring is close and warmer weather will be coming soon, our number one son has a birthday in March, and March also means we will soon be able to visit the City again!

Well, it's a balmy 24 degrees in my neck of the woods today, the warmest it has been in about a week! Though it is a lovely winter wonderland outside with a blanket of snow covering the ground and plenty of snow angels in my backyard these frigid temps have me dreaming of only one thing - the smell of funnel cakes on a hot summer's day.

I am so happy with all the new parking lots and trams at the City. But, for the first time in a long time I'm having to adapt to new lot locations and trying to remember where I parked! Spring....what a wonderful word! After all the snow, ice and frigid temperatures we've had this winter, just saying the word "Spring" brings a smile to my face and anticipation of all this new season holds. If your family is anything like ours, we are counting the days until Silver Dollar City opens for the first time in 2009 for Family Spring Break Days (March 19-22, 26-27; 9:30 am - 6pm and March 29; 9am - 6pm).

Did you know that Silver Dollar City's water rides are still open? We visited the park last weekend and were surprised to find that you can still take a ride on the American Plunge or Lost River!

And, it's a good thing we could because it was a beautiful day with the high reaching almost 80º on Sunday. We had some cousins in from out of town that were visiting the city for the first time. We didn't want them to miss out on a couple of the park's best rides!
