Q: Tara asks, "We are thinking about bringing our 1.5 and 3.5 yr old sons to SDC and staying at the Wilderness cabins. Can anyone recommend them based on personal experience? We want to come down the weekend of April 25-26 but are reluctant to make early reservations because the weather is so quick to change this time of year and they require a 5 DAY advance notice on reservation changes. This seems extreme since the industrystandard for reservations is 24 hrs notice. Thanks for your help!"
A: My family had a wonderful stay at The Wilderness Cabins two years ago. Based upon your kids’ ages, I’d recommend staying in the Rustic Cabin with Kitchenette. This cabin has a queen bed, plus a daybed with pullout trundle. I don’t know about your two boys, but my three boys were all climbers and at 18 months, mine would have been all over the loft-style cabin…so, if you don’t want to worry about bunk beds or loft-rooms, I’d go with the rustic cabin with one-level. The cabins are really comfortable and we had a wonderful weekend stay. I do know that these cabins are very popular, so demand is great and that may explain the 5-day notice. I will share with you that it rained during our two-day stay, and we still had a great time. We even made a fire in the fireplace! Set as favorite Bookmark
