Q: Diane asks, "I purchased 2 Senior and 1 child Season Pass in January and received the 3 BAF coupons. The 2 seniors plan to bring the child to Silver Dollar City in June. In December, I plan to bring my whole family ( 2 seniors, 3 adults and 2 children.) We plan to visit Silver Dollar City for 2 days in the December visit.
I'm confused about the most economical way to purchase the tickets for the family I'll bring in December. Would it be best to use the BAF coupons, then purchase additional 1 or 2 day passes? Would it be best to purchase season passes even though they would only be used for 2 days? Also, I saw some where on the website that the BAF coupons can be upgraded. Would that be the best solution for some of the family members? Thanks so much for your help."
A: First I need to clarify something for you. If you purchased your season passes in January than you received Bring A Friend FREE tickets. The question that you mentioned on the blog applies to the Bring A Friend for $10 coupons that people receive February 1 - March 6 when purchasing a season pass. Your FREE tickets work a little differently in that since there is no cash value associated with the tickets they cannot be upgraded to a season pass, validated for a 2nd day or used in the after 3PM next day free (7PM at Christmas) program. I hope that doesn't cause too much confusion.
However, there are a couple of great programs that you should know about when considering the most economical route for your family. If you plan to visit on two consecutive days at Christmas you can purchase regular one-day admissions for your family and arrive after 7PM on your first day then come back the second day on the same ticket. (Also, remember with a season pass you receive $5 off one-day admissions for up to 6 guests).
If that won't be enough time for your family then another great option is to purchase one-day admissions (with your $5 discount) and then before you leave on your first day you can validate your tickets for the next day for only $15 plus tax for adults and $10 plus tax for children.
If you do not plan on attending consecutive days, then purchasing season passes is probably your best value. A season pass is less than the cost of 2 one-day admissions, so you will still be able to get a good value from the season passes.
Hopefully this helps, but Silver Dollar City also has some great people working in their reservation center that can answer your questions. Please feel free to give them a call at 800-475-9370.
