Q: We took our your grandson with us for his first trip to SDC. He had so much fun. We did also. My husband and I were a little disappointed though. So many shops were closed.

The candle shop, the Christmas shop, and the leather shops just to name a few. Why? We did notice a few of our favorite shops had moved. The broom maker (love his pot scrubers) The dog shop, & the Johnn Deere shop. But we found them. We will be back in June with more of our kids & grandkids.

A: Thank you for your inquiry, and I'm sorry you didn't know about the shops prior to your visit.  Each year we review shops and product lines based on guest demand. As a result of that review, the decision was made in 2009 to open shops according to the time frame most guests like to visit. The majority of our Merchandise Shops will open in March with the opening of the park however some shops will open during the festival in which they have been most popular. All Merchandise shops will open by the beginning of the Spring Bluegrass & BBQ Festival.  You can check the website for more information about specific opening dates. Again, thank you for your interest and for being a guest of Silver Dollar City.
